From antenna design to measured performance

In May 2026, our partner mtex antenna technology installed a five-metre S2S Performance antenna at Stellar’s teleport in Hürth. It is the first antenna of this type at our site. After assembly and connection, the team carried out the first movements of the system. The next step is the work that made us put it here in the first place: verification under real operating conditions.

‍

German and European SATCOM systems are moving from concepts toward detailed system design. At that stage, assumptions are no longer enough. Engineers and decision-makers need reliable measurements to model how a ground system will perform, specify its components and assess how it can be integrated into wider communications infrastructure. When requirements become procurements, those figures matter even more.

‍

Hürth gives us the right setting for that work. The antenna stands within an established teleport, alongside the networks and operational expertise needed to examine it as part of a complete ground system. mtex brings the antenna technology; Stellar brings the infrastructure and experience of integrating and operating satellite services.

The installation is therefore the beginning of a longer process. We can now build a body of measured data around S2S Performance and use it to support the next decisions with evidence from the field.
